The Champ’s Guilt-Free Sausage Patties
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely snipped dried apple (or 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh apple)
- 1/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- 1/2 lb ground turkey breast
Directions:
1. Prepare the Sausage Mixture:
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the egg white, onion, apples, breadcrumbs, parsley, salt, sage, nutmeg, black pepper, and cayenne.
- Add the ground turkey breast and mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
2. Form the Patties:
- Shape the mixture into 8 to 9 small patties, about 2 inches wide each.
3. Cook the Patties:
- Preheat a grill, stovetop skillet, or George Foreman-style grilling machine.
- Place 4 patties at a time on the hot grill.
- Close the lid (if using a grilling machine) and cook for about 5 minutes, flipping once or twice.
- Cook until the meat is no longer pink in the center and juices run clear.
4. Serving Suggestions:
- Enjoy as a breakfast sausage alternative with eggs and whole-grain toast.
- Serve on a light bun with mustard for a guilt-free slider.
