Grilled Venison Filet & Portobello Mushrooms

Grilled Venison Filet & Portobello Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 4 6 oz Venison filets
  • 2 tablespoons Wild Game Seasoning & Rub
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil, divided
  • 2 whole Portobello mushrooms, stemmed and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Venison:
    • Pat the venison filets dry with paper towels.
    • Rub both sides of the filets with wild game seasoning and olive oil.
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible, to marinate and let the flavors develop.
  2. Prepare the Mushrooms:
    • Remove the stems from the Portobello mushrooms and slice them into thick pieces.
    • In a bowl, mix together the balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and remaining olive oil.
    • Toss the mushroom slices in the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated.
    • Place the mushrooms in a plastic bag or covered container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to marinate.
  3. Preheat the Grill:
    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grill grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Venison:
    • Remove the marinated venison filets from the refrigerator.
    • Grill the venison filets for 4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (use a meat thermometer for accuracy: 130°F for medium-rare).
    • Once cooked, remove the filets from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Grill the Mushrooms:
    • While the venison is resting, place the marinated Portobello mushrooms on the grill.
    • Grill the mushrooms for 2 minutes on each side, until tender and slightly charred.
  6. Assemble the Dish:
    • Slice the grilled venison filets into thinner strips (optional).
    • Arrange the grilled Portobello mushrooms on top of the venison filets for a deliciously earthy topping.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the grilled venison and mushrooms with your favorite sides like roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze over the finished dish.
  • Serve with a side of crusty bread to soak up any juices.

Enjoy this flavorful, tender, and hearty dish for a perfect meal to impress family or guests!

Best when served with a light drizzle of olive oil and rubbed into the meat for extra richness.
